Donald V. Phillips, M. Div. Life Coach
Don Phillips has devoted most of his adult life in pursuit of fulfilling a call to bring the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to each person he meets and to each community where he lives. The passion of his heart is to love and serve God, to grow and give in his relationships with others, to give back to the universe all that God has given him.
Much of Don's experience with people comes from his 18 years of Pastoral ministry throughout several communities in Ohio and through his travels throughout the world. Don obtained a BA degree in 1982 from Lycoming College in Philosophy with a strong emphasis in psychology in preparation for Pastoral ministry. He attended Asbury Theological Seminary and received his Masters of Divinity in 1991. Since then, the focus of his studies has been centered around building skills to meet a diverse range of needs concerning organizational development as well as helping individuals achieve personal spiritual growth in Jesus Christ.
As recent as 2000, Don attended and completed the Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership traveling across the United States learning how small groups build large churches in places such as Saddleback community in Los Angeles, CA, Willowcreek Community Church and Salem Baptist Church in Chicago, IL, First United Methodist Church in Houston, TX, South East Christian Church in Louisville, KY and Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL among others. He continues to be influenced by some of the greatest contemporary pastors of our time. Some of those names include, Pastor Rick Warren, writer of "Purpose Driven Life", Pastor Bill Hybels, counselor to presidents of our nation. Much of his thinking about cell group dynamics and leadership development is influenced by John Maxwell's Leadership Series and the Meta-Church Workshop by Carl George.
In 2002, Don completed an 18 month course called The New Church Start Academy, dedicated to planting new churches and building new ministries in rural as well as urban centers.
Since that time, Don has focused most of his personal study time learning about the coaching process as it pertains to personal development for business professionals and achievement of life aims. He has studied both the practical side of coaching and business side of building a coaching practice and how to benefit his clients best. He has studied the processes of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Neuro Semantics as a part of the process of renewing the mind for personal transformation. Although NLP and NS delve into personal counseling, Life Coaching endeavors to influence behavior through eradicating limiting beliefs, and building upon dominant life values. Life coaching is about building a foundation on the truth of personal strength and ability. It is about developing personal integrity in keeping with character, honesty, personal identity and dominant life values.
